REMBRANDT’S LIGHT
National Gallery of Canada is my favourite place in Ottawa. Once I need some refreshments or inspirations, it is always my top choice. Rembrandt exhibition was the first major exhibition to open at the Gallery since the pandemic began. Undoubtedly I took the chance to revisit the gallery, then this Dutch painter’s art totally occupied my mind. Eventually I made a set of design to mark the show and the great artist.
Rembrandt was well known for using earthy tones and golden highlights to frame the faces of his portraiture subjects. In a way to response this, I used the triangle and the font contrast to match Rembrandt's self-portrait.
